If you're looking to simplify your short rope ascents, the Petzl Rollclip Z Pulley Screw-Lock Carabiner is an ideal purchase. New for 2017, this carabiner is designed for use as a directional point on the ascension handled rope clamp. Made of aluminum, it features a keylock system that prevents snagging while securing the pulley. The gate strength is 7 kN and, thanks to the opening on the pulley side, rope installation is easy when the pulley is fixed to the anchor. The H profile offers a better strength-to-weight ratio while preventing markings due to abrasion. The sheave is mounted on a sealed ball bearing which provides higher efficiency. This carabiner can be used with a CAPTIV positioning bar to assist in loading along the major axis, which limits the risk of flipping. Major axis strength is 20 kN while minor axis strength is 8 kN.
